MUSIC MINISTRY

Music gives expression to our worship, instruction for our discipleship, and enjoyment to our senses. It helps us serve our neighbors near and far as God has charged us. Faithful participation is essential in meeting that charge, and there are many opportunities to enjoy and share your musical gifts. You are invited to join others in finding a place to serve God faithfully through the medium of music at First Baptist. For more information, contact Greg Lundberg, Minister of Music & Senior Adults at (910) 692-8750.

For over 18 years, this group has provided music for our own worship services, various churches on our Mission Trips, Handbell Festivals, and "Christmas in the Pines" each year. "Speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spirtual songs, offering praise by singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord." (Ephesians 5:19). This verse of scripture encompasses everything that One Voice seeks to do on a weekly basis. Our music consists of contemporary, gospel, seasonal, and traditional. One Voice provided service music for our worship services, has sung in many different settings on Mission Trips, as well as participating at the National Cathedral with Youth Cue, and serving as a worship choir for our national CBF annual meeting. This group is always open for new members. Contact Greg Lundberg for more information.

  • Wednesday - Music Opportunities

    • 6:00 p.m. - Graded Choirs with Music and Missions*: Mini Music Makers (ages 3-5), Music Makers (grades 1-3), Young Musicians (grades 4-6)

Beginning with our 3's and going through out 6th graders, Wednesday evenings are filled with the sounds of music. Our 3-5 year olds sing songs, play games, play instruments, and begin learning basic rhythm patterns. These beginnings lay the foundation for moving into our Music Makers and Young Musicians. Currently, these 2 groups are meeting together. We have delved into a wonderful new area-percussion. We are now equipped with many different tpyes of world percussion - djembes, congas, bucket drums, hand drums, shakers - and the list continues. We are learning how to incorporate this new area into our worship. We are also incorporating our Orff instruments and handbells for use in worship. Singing is also one of our staples in learning to worship. Choir is one of the main programs that help children learn the elements of worship. New members are always welcome. For more information, contact Susan Ward.
