A message from the Minister to Children and Families

Forty is a common number found throughout scripture.  It rained for forty days and nights; Jesus spent forty days being tempted by the devil in the wilderness.  We begin the season of Lent this week with forty days of journeying toward the cross.  Wednesday is "Ash Wednesday", the beginning of the season, when we may choose to have  a cross marked on our foreheads with ashes symbolizing that we are sinners.(Genesis 3:19)  Lent begins forty days before Easter, reminding us to recall the forty days Jesus spent praying and fasting at the beginnning of his ministry.  Praying and fasting keeps our focus on Jesus and the sacrifice He made on the cross.  Please lead your children to remember the love and sacrifice of our savior and Lord, Jesus.  I have prepared A Journey through Lent for you to share together as a family.  Enjoy the journey together as we grow in becoming more like Christ in action and attitude.
