Youth Education
We offer a balanced educational ministry for youth here at FBCSP. It involves Bible Study, Missions, Music, and Worship. Our goal is to give youth a well-rounded Christian experience and to help them grow in many different ways. Our diverse educational offerings also allow youth to find ways to connect with God and to one another in ways that fit their personalities and experiences.
Sunday School (Sunday Mornings)
Our goal in Sunday School is to instruct our youth on the basics of Christian faith and to give them room to wrestle with issues where they can learn how to apply their faith to their decisions.
Youth Sunday School begins with an opening assembly in the big youth room. We meet for announcements, fellowship, and prayer. Then the youth will move to their classrooms where they are divided into 3 groups: Middle School (6-8), High School I (9&10), and High School II (11 & 12).
Youth Handbells (Sundays Afternoons)
Luke and Alison Arno direct the handbell choir that provides our youth with another opportunity for leadership during worship. The youth can attest to the fact that ringing takes a lot of work, but when it all comes together, they make beautiful music.
Youth Choir (Sunday Afternoons)
Music education plays a significant role in the lives of the youth at FBCSP. The youth work together to prepare songs of many different styles to present in worship and on our annual Summer Mission trip. The songs not only give the youth a chance to lead in worship but also help them to learn fundamental Christian themes and Scriptures.
Normal meeting times are Sunday evenings, variable by grade groups. This group, called “One Voice”, is led by Luke and Alison Arno.
Youth Bible Study (Sunday Evenings)
The Sunday Night Bible Study schedule varies by grade groups, beginning at 5:00 PM, between musical groups. During the Bible study time, we engage in different styles of learning that include praise and worship through singing, group games, video clips, small group discussion, and fun that connect our lives with Scripture. At 6:00 PM, all ages meet for supper together so they can fellowship with each other and begin to form lasting relationships.
Once a month, all ages gather together for a fun night we call “Crazy Night”, where we play kickball, dodgeball, cards, and other fun activities.
Youth Handbells (Sundays, 4:00pm)
Luke and Alison Arno direct the handbell choir that provides our youth with another opportunity for leadership in worship. The youth can attest to the fact that ringing takes a lot of work, but when it comes together, they make beautiful music.
Youth Middle School Bible Study (Wednesdays, 6:15-7:15pm)
Middle School youth meet in the Middle school room for some in-depth Bible study using video illustrations and movie clips that help teach biblical principles and truths and show youth how these truths relate to their daily lives.
Youth Small Group Bible Studies (Tues - Fri, 7:30am before school)
Youth will meet at a local fast food restaurant or coffee shop, before school, to start the day off with devotion and fellowship. This is a good time to discuss in depth things going on in the students life and to get to know other students better. These groups are formed by gender and age, so things can be discussed on a deeper level.

Parent Involvement in Youth Group
We believe parent involvement is an essential part of a successful youth program. So, how can parents get involved?
1. Sign up to help with Youth Supper: This is a necessary part of our ministry here. "Feed them and they will come" is very true. We are always looking for those to help. This is also a way to get a behind-the-scenes look at what we are studying and to see our youth in action.
2. Chaperone a trip or drive to a function: Sometimes our adult leaders need a break or can't go on a trip, and that is when the youth may need additional help. This is a good way to get to know our youth better, and you may even get to spend some quality time with your own youth!
3. Join our Youth-Parent Committee: This committee helps plan trips and carry out all our youth fundraisers. This is an action group and is very important to the success of the program. This group will meet once a month for about an hour.
4. Pray for our youth: This is the most important thing you can do for us. Youth today face many challenges, and it is up to us to build those hedges around our teens through prayer so God can protect them. I hope every parent will agree to do this.
5. Host a small group Bible study at your house: This year, we are going to do more small group work, so we will need hosts, people who will open their homes to us. Small groups let us go deeper into the Bible and help to make youth feel more comfortable about discussing issues and problems they face.
