New Senior Minister

David Helms retired in July 2023 after 40 years of faithful service at First Baptist Church. A Senior Minister Search Committee was formed and began their work by retaining the consulting services of The Center for Healthy Churches. Early steps in discerning the Holy Spirit's direction for our church included three Congregational Conversations, which took place from November 2023 - February 2024. The Church Profile linked below is the result of these conversations, describing the church's identity and mission. With referrals from The Center for Healthy Churches, the Senior Minister Search Committee began interviewing candidates in June 2024. On October 6, 2024, First Baptist Church members voted overwhelmingly to call Matt Riggsbee as our new Senior Minister. We look forward to welcoming Matt to the pulpit on November 17. View the Minister Profile below to learn more about Matt and his family.
